Star Wars had the best sci-fi dirt bikes:

I find that using the FORCE comes in handy when you are trying to avoid hitting trees at speed in enduro races. The speederbike scenes in Star Wars capture the frenetic pace of an enduro race really well.

Clarissa starts to get the right idea here...:

There was no way she could even attempt to "explain it all" without referring to dirt bikes in some way! Having the bike in her room--hidden in the closet--was an excellent plot twist. Excellent show all around.

What a beautiful machine!

I have had 2 of these motorcycles, and I really loved them. For a couple years at Emory University, I only had one of these as a vehicle--along with a rain suit! I was a member of the Georgia Recreational Trail Riders Association (GARTRA) from right after it started. These bikes are different (with the big tires), and not very fast, but they are geared low and accelerate to 60mph or so pretty well. Top speed is only about 70. They corner EXTREMELY well with their low center of gravity and wide tires, run GREAT in snow and mud, and climb hills better than bikes with twice the engine because there is little wheelspin. I also liked the electric/kick start combination. That start button saved me many times on tight hills, and in deep streams!

This is one of most fun bikes I ever rode!

The Honda XR400 has one of the best engines ever. One thing I noticed right away is that it will slide forever around corners like a speedway bike! The suspension is a little weak for the big jumps, but Ron (my brother) sent the shocks off to White Brothers racing to be reworked. Now it flies high and lands controllably and smoothly.
